Our Chicken Breeds
  1. Black Star
    Black Star
    Black Star hens are very good layers and they lay large brown eggs. When full grown, Black Stars weigh a little over 5 lbs. The females are black with gold hackle and breast feathers, and they are egg laying machines. The males are black with white barring. (NOTE: sex-link chickens are those who can be sexed at the time of hatching by their color.)
  2. Red Star
    Red Star
    The hens have feathers that are reddish brown with flecks of white throughout. The males are all white with nice yellow skin. Then will start laying eggs at approximately 22 weeks of age. This breed is a very hardy bird will lays eggs in all seasons, no matter if the weather is hot or cold weather. No wonder it's called the Red Star.
  3. Barred Rock
    Barred Rock
    The Barred Rock is a prolific layer of brown eggs and is one most popular variety of chickens in the United State. These chickens are often called Plymouth Rocks, but this title correctly belongs to the entire breed, not just the Barred variety. Baby chicks are dark gray to black with some white patches on head and body.
  4. Australorp
    Australorp
    This breed originated in Australia and was imported from England. These beautiful birds have glossy black plumage which has a greenish-purple sheen and also have larger than average bright red combs. They are big birds, with cocks weighing 6 to 8 pounds and pullets weighing 5 to 7. They have a pinkish white skin and plump bodies. They mature early and will start laying eggs between 5 and 6 months of age. They are quiet, gentle, and stand confinement well. Baby chicks are black with a good deal of white in the underparts and small white patches around the head and wings.

    Speckled Sussex
    The Speckled Sussex is a medium sized bird that lays light brown or tinted eggs. These hens will sit on the eggs. Its plumage color has a rich mahogany base color with individual feathers ending in a white tip separated from the rest of the feathers by a black bar. Baby chicks vary greatly in color from a creamy buff to dark chestnut and some also have alternate dark and light stripes lengthwise on the back.

    This is one of the most famous and popular breeds of American chickens. They lay brown egg. No other heavy breed lays more or better eggs than them. Baby chicks are a rusty red color and the mature birds are a variety of mahogany red.
  7. White Plymouth Rock
    White Plymouth Rock
    White Rock pullets are outstanding for egg production the entire year, especially during the cold winter months. They lay a brown egg. The variety has white feathers and golden yellow skin. They are all big birds, with hens reaching 6 to 7 lbs. and cocks 8 to 9 lbs. Baby chicks are a creamy white and may show a touch of gray smokiness.
  8. New Hampshire Red
    New Hampshire Red
    This breed originated in the state of New Hampshire. It has characteristics of early maturity, rapid full feathering, and production of large brown eggs. The mature birds are a rich chestnut red, of a somewhat lighter and more even shade than the Rhode Island Reds and the baby chicks are also a lighter red.
  9. Buff Orpingtons
    Buff Orpingtons
    Buff Orpingtons were introduced from England in the late 1800's, they became one of the most popular farm fowls in this country. These are large, stately birds who have a quiet disposition. Their full plumage make them excellent winter layers, shelling out brown eggs right through cold weather. They also make excellent setters and mothers. Baby chicks are a soft light buff color.
